Mårten Johannesen, a 71 year old retired boat captain supplements his finances by selling fish and pilot whale meat in Torshavn harbor on the island of Streymoy. Marten says half his customers are tourists-curious to try the dried whale meat. Johannesen himself eats the whale meat once a week. He believes that the islanders will continue hunting-a process that is now "fully controlled, and compassionate towards the animals."
