Studio portrait of a Corn Earworm on a black background. This moth’s larva can destroy many crops, including corn, cotton and vegetables. The Corn Earworm is a key food for Mexican free-tailed bats. Each evening bats emerge from Bracken Cave and fly as high as 10,000 feet to meet swarms of moths that travel on upper winds. Each bat will consume about one half to three-fourths of it's body weight before morning.
