Sea Shepherd volunteers stand together-locked arm in arm with Peter Hammarstedt, in front of Pilot whale vertebrae which were found on the beach on one of Sandoy Island's pilot whale 'killing beaches.'

Sea Shepherds volunteers number over 500 in the Faroe Islands during the summer campaign, "Operation Grindstop 2014." Volunteers come from all over the world; they are self proclaimed Vegans, and pay their way to spend anywhere from two weeks, to months protecting whales. They sport the black hoodie with the Sea Shepherd logo, which announces their unmistakable presence in the islands. They are willing to put their own lives in danger, to save the life of a whale--they are willing to die for the cause.
